Volunteering

What is Green Routes?

Green Routes is an established training organisation located within the walled Garden at Gargunnock House, 5 miles west of Stirling.

We have created a positive learning environment where people with additional support needs realise their potential and make positive contributions to their communities.

Although our focus is on horticulture skills we aim to teach our young students a range of transferable work skills enabling them to progress to meaningful employment.

  • Mentoring our students
  • Helping with animals
  • Woodwork and crafts
  • Catering for volunteering days
  • Supporting us at events
  • Fundraising

What can volunteering at Green Routes offer you?

An opportunity to:

  • Gain a sense of achievment and fulfillment
  • Make a difference to people’s lives
  • Meet new people and be part of a team
  • Use your existing skills and learn new ones

Our volunteers are integral to the day to day activities at Green Routes and delivering successful outcomes for our students. We recognises that volunteers require satisfying work and personal development and will seek to help you meet these needs.

Above all we ask that you enjoy yourselves. Without fun nothing is sustainable!

Rewarding work

"I always look forward to the day, the staff are so positive, caring, understanding of the students' varied needs and create a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Students are encouraged to achieve, not only in horticulture or woodwork, but in developing social and life skills. My own horticultural skills have certainly improved too! I'm so lucky to have found such a great place to volunteer."

It's like a family

"I’ve only been volunteering at Greenroutes for a short time, but it’s such a positive place to be. I feel genuinely privileged to be part of it. It feels like a family; the staff, students, and volunteers are all so friendly, supportive, and welcoming. Greenroutes is a wonderful charity, and I’d definitely recommend getting involved, even if it’s just for a few hours each week."

I feel valued

"Volunteering for Green Routes has been such a rewarding experience for me. As soon as you step into the garden, you can feel the supportive atmosphere that the team have created, one where everyone's contribution is valued: students, staff and volunteers. We work together in a beautiful garden with activities in tune with the seasons and each other's company. Add to this that your participation as a volunteer is flexible. What's not to like? I highly recommend the experience!"
